Monitor plants for wilting and yellowing.
Provide extra water during periods of extreme heat.
Check your lawn by probing down 6 inches. If the soil is dry at that depth, add water.
Fertilize regularly to help your lawn tolerate the heat.
Hand watering may be best, especially for trees, shrubs and container plants.
Try drought-resistant, native plants, like Salvia (Autumn Sage).
Treat for pests using a granular insectide.
